Disconsolation. Misery. Abject despair. If your a football fan then you will recognise these feelings. For some fans these days come around more often than those of other supporters, but ultimately all will suffer the slings and arrows of faithful devotion. And this is the time of year when it happens more often than any other. The pain of relegation. The disappointment of finishing one place outside of the play off positions. A play off final defeat. Either at the match or watching on television the misery is writ large on the faces of the supporters. Why do we do it? Just what is the point? The latest failure - after the majority of the season perched proudly at the top of Unibond Premier Division AFC Telford Utd are defeated at home by Burscough who take the title (and automatic promotion) in the process. preston north end are rubbish. there. i've said it. all season in the top six. one game left - eigth.

You have my every sympathy. I'm a Stevenage Borough fan. Started the season very poorly, got it together mid-season heading for the play-offs. Reached the FA Trophy final and lost the plot. Hey ho another year in the Conference
Yesterday....Raith Rovers lose in the play-off semi-final. Despair.
Today, Southampton make it into the play-offs. Hope.
It's more than likely to be back at despair in 10 days time.
But I don't think I'd like it any other way.
